Apple and pear compote with a twist of flavored sugar
Apple and pear compote with a twist of flavored sugar
Apple and pear compote is a classic, sweet and comforting treat. With flavored sugar, it transforms into a delicious dessert, without the addition of liquid flavorings or artificial ingredients.
Why use flavored sugar in a compote?
Cooked fruit naturally develops its sweetness. Flavored sugar helps to:
- to enhance the taste of the fruit without masking it
- to add a soft and balanced fragrance
- Avoid adding liquid vanilla or separate spices.
Ingredients (4 to 6 servings)
- 4 apples (Golden Delicious or Gala)
- 4 ripe pears
- 5 cl of water
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of flavored sugar
Step-by-step preparation
- Peel the apples and pears, and cut them into pieces.
- Place them in a saucepan with the water.
- Cook over low heat for 20 to 25 minutes.
- When the fruit is very soft, remove from the heat.
- Add the flavored sugar off the heat .
- Mix, taste and adjust if necessary.
- Mixed according to the desired texture (smooth or with pieces).
The right dosage
• Lightly flavored compote: 1 tablespoon
• More indulgent version: 2 tablespoons
Tip: Let it rest for 10 minutes before tasting for a rounder flavor.
Which flavors should I choose?
- Vanilla : sweet and timeless
- Lemon : fresh and light
- Tarte tatin : notes of apple and caramel
- Gingerbread : perfect in winter
